2.2           System requirements – software

For the SQL Server 2014 Installation one of the following operating systems is required:

·            Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, Datacenter Essentials or Foundation

·            Windows Server 2012 Standard, Datacenter Essentials or Foundation

·            Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Standard, Datacenter, Enterprise, Web or Foundation

·            Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise

·            Windows 8 Pro or Enterprise

·            Windows 8.1 Pro or Enterprise

·            Windows 10 Home, Professional or Enterprise

Beside the mentioned, common operating systems, there are several special versions of these operating systems which are supported. Should your version not be listed in the list above, please check the SQL Server 2014 Standard user manual or the Microsoft homepage, whether your operating system is supported.

Furthermore the installation of SQL Server 2014 requires the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, if the Data Base Engine, Reporting Services, Master Data Services, Data Quality Services, Replication, or SQL Server Management Studio, are selected.

The .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is no longer installed by the SQL Server Setup. Furthermore .NET 4.0 is a requirement for SQL Server 2014. In case that one or both components are not installed on your system, please install them before proceeding with the setup. Alternatively, the installation of the .NET Framework 4.0 could be done automatically by the SQL Server 2014 setup itself. If the components are already installed or these installations have been done manually, the next section can be skipped.

For an optimal usage of the help function you need Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 including SP1 or higher.
