1.2 Complex Devices
With the mechanism described under 1.1, parts can only be generated automatically according to the schematic shown in the graphic:
display of a graphic
and underneath the graphic display of the reference shapes
Moreover the maximum size is limited to one sheet. If more complex or multipage representations such as the ones commonly required for circuit breakers or protective equipment are required, then there are three other possibilities:
a) Via typical (multipage)
The project is assigned to a typical project in which the items with their assigned sheets are stored. The assistant supplements the possibly missing subordinate structures in the items of the working project, copies the associated diagrams and renames the copied diagrams. This method of operation is very flexible and considerably faster than b or c.
b) Via symbols (one page and multipage)
Similar to the procedure for standard devices, symbols with the prefix DEV3 are searched and automatically placed. These symbols must be defined as preferred master shapes of the item.
A symbol DEV3xxx is usually defined for each complex device.
It is often impossible to represent complex devices on one page. To be able to represent these complex devices on several pages, you can spread the graphical representation over several DEV3xxx symbols and define them as Preferred Master Shapes. The sequence of the symbols in the preferred master shapes defines the representation sequence on the sheets.
|
After a DEV3xxx symbol, there is no automatic page break. Devices with DEV1xxx, DEV2xxx and DEV3xxx symbols are placed directly below the DEV3xxx symbol until the sheet is full. After that, a page break is carried out. |
If a typical or a DEV3xxx symbol is assigned to the equipment, the representation of complex devices is automatically done according to the above-mentioned variants a or b.
If a typical and a symbol are assigned to the equipment, the typical is always used for the creation of the equipment diagram.
c) Via symbols (multipage)
Another way to represent complex devices is the usage of the symbols with the prefixes DEV4 and DEV5. These symbols must be defined as preferred master shapes of the item or the substructures. The item must not be assigned to a typical!
A symbol with prefix DEV4 must be assigned to the uppermost device of an equipment as preferred master shape. This starts the following actions in the assistant:
A new sheet is generated and the symbol DEV4xxx is placed on the sheet.
All sub-elements are scanned for preferred master shapes.
· If a preferred shape with the prefix DEV2 is found on the next level, it is placed directly on the sheet below the DEV4xxx symbol. This will continue until the sheet is full and then a page break is carried out.
· If a preferred shape with prefix DEV5 is found on the next level, a page break is performed, the symbol DEV5xxx is placed and all preferred symbols with prefix DEV2, positioned below the DEV5xxx symbol are placed.
