3.11       Smart Excel

In Engineering Base, mass data is basically edited using worksheets. With the macro Smart Excel, worksheets may be exported as EXCEL files to be edited without Engineering Base and, then, be reimported to Engineering Base without previous mapping.

The macro has the following functions:

·         Export of one or more worksheets in EXCEL file format.

·         Import of the revised data to Engineering Base.

·         Import of customized EXCEL templates for the data export to the macro.

Preconditions

The macro can only be used with the license XLS/CSV Export/Import.

To run the macro:

1.      In the Engineering Base Explorer, click on the folder Equipment, Functions or one of the related subfolders.

Only the data below the selected starting point is exported.

2.      In the context menu, click Smart Excel or click on Select Macro in the context menu and select the macro Smart Excel and click Run, or from Function click right mouse button can select Smart Excel.

The macro is started and the dialog Worksheet export and import is opened.

3.      Select the tab required to export or import data or to import customized templates into the macro.

4.      Apply the desired settings, like the selection of the worksheets and the primary key as well as the layout template to be exported.

5.      Click in the Options Button in order to specify more options for the export or import of data.

6.      Click on Run to start the export or the import.

A message telling that the export/import has been successfully completed is then displayed.

7.      Click on Cancel to exit the macro.

The macro remains open after the export/import.
