1.1           Engineering Base Cable Logic

Engineering Base Cable Automotive (EBCL) is a branch-specific customizing solution for Engineering Base to be used use in the automotive sector.

From the description of the components to the handing-over to the production line, Engineering Base offers absolute consistency, with Engineering Base offering itself as an intuitively and easily operable tool. This results in an efficient workflow combined with high-quality planning and documentation.

Engineering Base is based on MS-Windows and is a database-driven system. It consists of a product core, the SQL server, which takes care of the data maintenance, and the Engineering Base application, which contains the basic functions developed by AUCOTEC AG. This also includes the software architecture, the data model, the object classes and types as well as their methods.

The graphic editor used is Microsoft Visio.

In addition add-ins and wizards are used:

·            Add-ins are event-driven, i.e. they react to certain changes in the data or actions of the software package. Among other things they ensure consistency and are used for monitoring.

·            On the other hand, wizards support the user in carrying out the various functions.

Many of the additional functions required for the automotive sector are realized via wizards.
