-------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.    Licensing

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using Engineering Base 2019 R2 requires the "Version 2019" license.

During the installation, a time-restricted test version is no longer created automatically. To nevertheless obtain a test version of Engineering Base, please get in touch with AUCOTEC or your local sales partner.

On installing Engineering Base, you have to explicitly select one of the following licenses:

-    Licensed Version

-    Administrated License File

-    FlexNet Licensing

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.    Updates and Enhancements in Version 2019 R2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: In front of each of the following new feature or enhancement, an identification number (ID) is provided under which the respective change is stored in our database. Should you have any questions related to a change, please refer to this identification number.

-    166574

Using the current version of Engineering Base, you can now also import dictionaries with more than 460.000 entries.

-    181797

The amount of data for which a worksheet can be displayed has been significantly extended to improve mass data editing.

-    218603

In the properties dialog of a project, the “Revision” folder has been renamed “Data Revision”. Once you have activated the data revision management in the project properties, a new system folder “Data Revision” is created under the project.

-    227814

If you convert a project into the smart PDF format and open a diagram, you can zoom the page in the PDF and then navigate to an object. Previously, the navigation target often was not visible as the page of the navigation target was zoomed, too. Now, the zoom is automatically reset when you navigate to the target page.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

3.    Fixed Bugs in Version 2019 R2

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: In front of each of the following fixed errors, an identification number (ID) is provided under which the respective error is stored in our database. Should you have any questions related to an error recovery, please refer to this identification number.

-    161235

If a cable mark for a single-line diagram was placed onto a segment to which a branching point was connected, this branching point was interpreted as the cable destination. If you now place a cable mark onto a topology, the branching points are ignored as cable destinations on a single-line diagram. The cable destinations are entered correctly. A partitioning is possible in the same way as it is for conventional single-line diagrams. However, the topology functions can also be used.

-    198539

If you want to use the AUCOTEC controls (e.g. TreeView) in VBA, you can again select these controls via the “Additional Controls” dialog and add them to the toolbox.

-    228793

On starting the Equipment Diagram Assistant from a unit containing subjacent units, the sheets were created twice and partly without any content. The name of the unit was also missing in the names of the sheets.

-    228982

In the current version of EB, the system attributes Design Pressure (AID 11243) and Wall Thickness (AID 10350) are again included as text attributes (without units).

-    231833

A wire destination was lost if a connecting line was deleted, even though that line was not relevant to the target. The deleted destination could not be restored by restoring the connecting line on the sheet. Placing the wire shape on the connection again did not create a new wire destination either. This issue has now been solved.

-    234005

Advanced Typical Manager: On selecting several functions for copying, an error message appeared. It was only possible to copy single functions. Moreover, the Advanced Typical Manager had to be closed and restarted after each copy process in order to copy the next function. You can now again copy several functions in the same transaction.

-    234320

If a shape group was copied from a P&I diagram onto another P&I diagram and then placed via “Paste Shapes Here”, the inserted group could no longer be edited subsequently. After the copy process, some parts of the shape group were laying on a locked layer and were therefore locked, too. The group could only be edited as a single unspecified device. This issue has now been solved.

-    235177

Manufacturing Import Assistant: On importing a KBL file containing a distributor with several topological pins, errors occurred. The topological pins were not loaded completely. Because of that, new segments that were to connect to the distributor were not generated. The data is now again read in completely.

-    241187

The Advanced CAD Import assistant now also supports the following Engineering Base types (CID) on mapping blocks and attributes:

-    Location

-    Pipeline

-    Pipeline Segment

-    Process

-    Flow Stream

-    Chemical Component

-    Chemical Substance

-    Note

The associated object types (TID) are now also supported.

-    241586

Equipment Diagram Assistant: On creating equipment diagrams for complex devices, the page breaks are again inserted correctly. Once the first main device in the equipment diagram is processed, a page break is carried out and a new sheet is created.

-    242117

Equipment Diagram Assistant: On generating equipment diagrams (starting from functions and units) for complex devices, some of the sheets were created twice and with a wrong designation. The issue concerning the page numbering has now been solved. The sheets are now numbered correctly.

-    242698

Although the license “EB Process Engineering” (1104) was activated, new execution tasks could not be created and edited.  The settings to manage execution tasks could also not be changed. In the current version of EB, execution tasks can now also be managed with the Process Engineering license.

-    246874

Using the current version of EB, you can again move objects from the copy bin below the “Documents” folder via VBA.

-    248156

Advanced Typical Manager: On copying typicals, working in a specific sequence was aborted with the error message “NullReferenceException”. Now, the copying process is executed correctly.

-    248348

If a standard instance of the SQL server was used, the Database Manager could not find that instance and was not able to connect to the SQL Server. On the “Local” tab, there was no instance displayed for selection. On attempting to find an instance via a manual entry on the “Manual” tab, a message appeared that the server could not be found. This issue has now been solved.

-    248398

After a DWG export, the text blocks in the output file were displayed in a different way than on the Visio sheet in EB. Some texts were not displayed in several rows as in the original file, but in one row (without line break). Now, the text blocks are displayed correctly after a DWG export.

-    248604

After a DWG export, the copyright information texts in the output file were moved beyond the edge of the sheet. This issue has now been solved.

-    253599

Advanced Typical Manager: If several functions were selected for copying, the report after the copy process showed that not all functions had been copied. On clicking OK, an error message appeared. You can now again copy all selected functions in the same transaction.

-    255601

To separate substances and pipes at the same time, an object of the type “Conduit (open), trench (Process / Fluid)” is used in the graphics. If the affected shapes were moved on the diagram, the flow stream was no longer separated correctly even though the attribute “Separate Flow Stream” was set. This issue has now been solved.

-    257658

On executing the assistant “Advanced Typical Manager” from a function in the typical project, the cable destinations in the target project were mixed up or entered twice. As a consequence, the cable list was also incomplete or contained errors.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

4.    Performance Improvements

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: In front of each of the following performance improvements, an identification number (ID) is provided under which the respective change is stored in our database. Should you have any questions related to a change, please refer to this identification number.

-    110638

On creating a pin potential net list by means of the “Automotive Export Pin Net List” assistant, long delays occurred until the export process was completed. Now, the performance has been improved significantly.

-    132286

Opening and creating large terminal block diagrams took a long time. The performance has now also been improved significantly for large terminal blocks.

-    194988

On deleting or copying very large amounts of data, e.g. projects with more than 100.000 objects, other EB activities were blocked in the multiuser mode. Starting EB was also delayed for an extremely long time. Editing data (e.g. creating a new object, editing, copying or moving objects, ...) was only possible with long delays and could even cause error messages. Now, deleting/copying large amounts of data does no longer interfere with the activities of other users.

-    223211

The performance of the Smart Excel output of worksheets has been improved significantly.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

6.    Updating from a Previous Version

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have already installed an Engineering Base version 2019 SP1 or earlier, the setup allows a parallel installation. (211263)

To remove the previous version, use the Add or Remove Programs functions of the Windows Control Panel. In client / server environments, the update has to be installed on the server and on the client computer.

NOTE: Databases created with previous versions of Engineering Base must be updated by the Database Manager before they can be used with this version!

To update an existing database

1.    On the Windows Start menu, please select All Programs, then Engineering Base 2019 R2, and click "Database Manager 2019 R2".

2.    Select the tab "SQL Server Instance" and click "Update Databases".

3.    The dialog now shows a list of the databases which have not been updated yet. Mark the databases to be updated and start the update.

4.    After the update has finished, quit the Database Manager. The database can now be used with the current version of Engineering Base.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

7.    Important Information for the Use of Visio

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

As of version 6.6.1, Engineering Base also supports Microsoft Visio 2013 in addition to Visio 2010; as of EB version 6.7.1, Visio 2016 is also supported, and Visio 365 is supported additionally as of EB 6.8.0.

Please note: Visio 2019 is not yet approved for operation with Engineering Base. The approval of using Visio 2019 is expected at a later stage. For running Engineering Base, please only use one of the Visio versions that we have approved (Visio 2010, 2013, 2016 or 365).

Please note: If several Visio versions are installed, Engineering Base will always use the version that was started last.

Important information:

Up to Visio 2010, comments could be placed at any position on the sheet via the ribbon "Review" and the command "New Comment". As of Visio 2013, these comments are always directly assigned to the selected shapes. Hence, these comments are also moved automatically on moving the respective shape. Because of this change, all comments placed in Visio 2010 are displayed in the upper left corner of the sheet in more recent Visio versions.

ID 162637

In PDF outputs of thin lines and texts, Visio outputs all lines with line widths of less than one point in an rounded line width of approximately 0.5 points. In cases where many thin lines are displayed, the output can therefore look confusing.

Please note: This issue was solved by Microsoft in the September 2017 update for Visio 2016 (KB4011096).

ID 153439

Due to the increased memory requirements for stencils from Visio 2013 on, further checks are executed when Engineering Base is started, and the following messages are displayed if the Visio 2013 Service Pack and the update

KB3114720 are not installed:

You are using a version of Visio 2013 (or newer) that can address a maximum memory of 2 GB. Please note that this may lead to problems due to insufficient addressable memory.

You will find the update on https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3114720.
