--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.    Licensing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using Engineering Base 6.5.0 requires the "Version 6.5.x" license. Without the "Version 6.5.x" license Engineering Base 6.5.0 cannot be used if the 60 day trial period has expired!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.    Notes on the Operating Systems Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Engineering Base can now be operated under Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3.    Using MSXML in self programmed macros

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When applying self-written Engineering Base VBA macros, that use MSXML under Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, the references to MSXML 4 in the macro code must be changed to MSXML 6. The reason is that the new Windows versions do not support MSXML 4. VBA macros, that are converted to MSXML 6 will also run under former Windows versions, because MSXML 6 is also available for Windows 7, Vista and XP.

For macros delivered by AUCOTEC since EB version 6.4.0, this conversion is already completed.

Details on MSXML6 you will find under the following link:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms766487(v=vs.85).aspx.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4.    Taking into Account Folder Structures for Worksheet Templates Using Self-programmed VBA Macros

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using self-programmed VBA macros in Engineering Base, you have to have bear in mind that from EB version 6.5.0 onwards worksheet templates of a project may be placed into folder structures (95826). This may create problems, if macros search worksheet configurations via their names on the first level, only. The usage of folder structures for worksheets is taken care of by Macros delivered by AUCOTEC.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5.    Fixed Bugs in 6.5.0

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE In front of each of the following errors that have been fixed, an identification number (ID) is provided, under which the respective error is stored in our data base. Please, refer to this identification number, if you should have questions related to an error fixed.

-    96508

Replacing devices in projects by catalog data, the attribute properties “Manual entry” and “From catalog” are reset not taking over the current properties of the device from catalog. If you set in the database below “Custom Settings” the key “ReplaceNoRevokeMatCatFlag=1”, then, replacing from catalog means, you take over the properties from catalog, particularly, “From catalog”.

-    99897

If “Copy&Paste” is used on drawing sheets, functions which are represented on the sheets and associated with the sheets are copied. In this process substructures (child hierarchies) are not taken into consideration but higher-level parent structures are copied to the copy bin in the function section. Available substructures can be reused there so that the copied functions can be stored below. For “Copy&Paste Special” you may configure in the options dialog, if associated functions which are not represented, are to be copied or not.

-    101356

With the current version of the terminal diagram macro the wires of sub-cables can now be entered in the cable matrix table column of the main cable. As before, one entry per wire of a sub-cable can alternatively be made in an individual wire-specific column.

-    103753

After having set the database key “EnhancedFctToFct” to 1, then, when associating functions, you may choose between the options “Function to Function” and “Function to multiple Function”. Thus, you may create multiple associations between functions both using the object tree via drag & drop or the VBA.

-    109292

Entering more than 24 lines of text into the title block, the enumeration continues after “Z” with “AA”. After “AZ” follows “BA” and so on. Combinations including “I” and “O” are omitted in accordance with the respective norm.

-    109936

With the current version, the device types “Circuit Breaker”, “Power circuit breaker” and “Switch, Pushbutton” are now available. In addition, in the folders “High-Voltage” the device types “Circuit Breaker (High Voltage)”, “Combined Transformers (High Voltage)” and “Transformers” the device types “Combined Transformer” and “Current Transformer” have been added.

-    110262

Now, also sheets with extensive, passive wiring may be opened.

-    112743

It is now assured that attributes are not created several times during the import of transport containers.

-    113199

The following system attributes are now available for the topic “Versions and status at objects”:

Discipline phase (of the type text field)

Human resource (of the type text field)

Status 1 (of the type text field)

Status 2 (of the type text field)

Status 3 (of the type text field)

Status 4 (of the type text field)

Status 5 (of the type text field)

Created by (of the type text field)

Creating date (of the type date)

Assigned to (of the type text field)

Due date (of the type date)

Quality Check (of the type text field)

Priority (of the type text field)

In addition the following names were changed:

old: Created by (of the type text field) new: Data created/changed by

old: Creating date (of the type date) -- new: Creation / change date

old: Priority (of the type text field) – new: Priority of the change

-    113453

Dictionary texts in revision worksheets are now correctly resolved even after changing the dictionary settings.

-    113684

Errors do not occur anymore during loop wiring with the wiring manager.

-    113754

During the Advanced CAD Import drawings and sheets were not correctly inserted into existing object hierarchies if the option “Merge objects with duplicated designations” was selected. This error is now fixed.

-    114852

If you copy several projects in one go, then the related revision data of all the projects are copied, too.

-    114872

By setting the database key “NoAggrChangeOnFuncToFuncFraming” to 1, you may deviate from the standard procedure shifting function frames on top of each other. Using this setting, then, in the overlap area, the function designations are not shortened and the associations are not changed.

      116264

Starting the file AucApplServerRemote_v17.exe on Windows Server 2003, a message is issued that the file is not a 32 bit application. Thus, you can no longer connect the client to the application server. Solutions for this problem are described in https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/linking-applications-using-visual-studio-2012-to-run-on-windows-xp.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6.    Known Bugs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: At the beginning of the items listed, an identification number (ID) is mentioned under which the corresponding item is listed in our database. Please refer to the identification number if you have any question about an item listed.

Changing the maximum number of wires for a pin does not highlight the connection if wiring is not possible.

- 10552

The attribute 'Page Number' in the title block for reports is not filled if the attribute 'Number of Pages' is used in the same text block. Please use individual text blocks for 'Page Number' and 'Number of Pages'.

- 10918

Shortcut keys Ctrl+O (Open) and Ctrl+Shift+R (Replace) does not work on the diagram in Visio.

- 14143

If [DRAWING] is selected in the formula for "Automatic Node Numbering", and sheets are structured with folders, then the folder name where the sheet is nested is used instead of the name of the drawing.

- 14224

If an attribute is renamed, VBA recognizes the new name only after restarting Engineering Base.

- 14859

Importing a project (.EXP) causes an error message saying "Error message from Zip program." if the user that is trying to import the file does not have the necessary permissions on that file.

- 15161

AutoConnect while copying a shape from one sheet to another is currently not possible.

- 16651

The Replace command ignores sub-devices that are structured in folders.

- 18866

For the Wire Numbering it is not possible to choose a range at the attribute ‘Range Wiring Numbers’ on the tab ‘Pins’ of a device. Choose the range at the Open dialog from the pin.

- 36235

In certain cases, update problems in drawings occur, e.g. in terminal shapes the terminal number and the pin designation is not updated.

- 36411

In certain cases, the database manager does not connect with a SQL cluster.

8.    Updating from a Previous Version

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have already installed a version 6.4.x or earlier of Engineering Base, the setup allows parallel installation.

If you have already installed a version 6.5.x a parallel installation is not possible. First of all the existing version 6.5.x has to be removed.

To remove the previous version, use Add or Remove Programs from the Windows Control Panel. In client / server environments, the update has to be installed on the server and on the client computer.

NOTE: Databases created with previous versions of Engineering Base must be updated by the Database Manager before they can be used with this version!

To update an existing database

1.    On the Windows Start menu, please select All Programs, then Engineering Base 6.4, then click Database Manager.

2.    On the File menu, click Update Engineering Base Databases.

3.    Follow the instructions of the Update Wizard.

4.    After the update has finished, quit the Database Manager. The database can now be used with the current version of Engineering Base.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9.    Migrating Databases from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 R2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With this version of Engineering Base Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 is installed. Old Engineering Base databases have to be migrated.

To migrate a database

1.    On the Windows Start menu, please select All Programs, then Engineering Base and then click Database Manager. Check the status line to ensure you have selected the database you want to migrate.

2.    On the Database menu, click Backup.

Follow the instructions of the Backup Wizard.

3.    After successfully finishing the backup, on the File menu, click Connect SQL Server.

4.    Select the <COMPUTER>\EB90 server, then click OK.

5.    On the File menu, click New Database.

Follow the instructions of the New Database Wizard.

6.    After successful creation of the new database, on the Database menu, click Restore.

Follow the instructions of the Restore Wizard.

7.    After successfully restoring the database to the Microsoft current SQL Server, you can quit the Database Manager and open the database in Engineering Base.
