With the help of this macro, the calculation of the intrinsic security of all PCS loops contained in the project may be automatized. This function rests upon project and article master data.
For each calculation that has been carried out, a document in form of an Excel report is created containing the result and the input data. In calculating the PCS loop, the characteristics of the sensor respectively of the actor and the cable length are used. If the cable length is not given, then the maximum possible cable length compatible with intrinsic safety is calculated.
If for a PCS loop the minimum conditions for intrinsic safety are not given, the user receives a respective message. These messages are registered in the project and have to be processed by the user. If a PCS loop does not pass the intrinsic safety test, then a failure is reported.
