3               Mapping the Three Aspects of IEC 81346 into Engineering Base (EB 6.5.0)

IEC 81346 provides three mutually independent aspects:

·         Product aspect

In this view, the constructive relations between the components of an object are considered, meaning the view describes of what components the object is made up.

·         Function aspect

With this view, the functional relations between the components of an object are represented, meaning what functions an object possesses.

·         Location aspect

Represents the spatial relationships between the components of an object, meaning on what location an object is installed or erected.

Up to now, two independent aspects have already been accounted for in Engineering Base, and have been mapped in the Engineering Base Explorer to the system folders Equipment and Functions. Starting with EB version 6.5.0, the location aspect is mapped now in compliance with IEC 81346 to the system folder Locations.
